EICC

The EICC® (Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition®) Code of Conduct establishes standards to ensure that working conditions in the electronics supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that business operations are environmentally responsible and ethically conducted. For the purposes of this Code, the electronics industry is defined as all organizations that design, market, manufacture, or provide goods and services used in the production of electronic products.
All companies in the electronics sector may voluntarily adopt this Code, after which they may apply it to their supply chains and subcontractors (including contract labor providers). To adopt and become a participant in this Code (“Participant”), a business must declare its support for the Code and actively conform to it and its standards through management systems as set forth herein. Participating companies should view this Code as an initiative that applies throughout the supply chain. Furthermore, participants must, at a minimum, require their next-tier suppliers to acknowledge and implement this Code.
The foundation of adopting this Code is the recognition that companies must operate in full compliance with the laws, rules, and regulations of the countries in which they conduct business. The Code is designed to encourage companies not only to comply with laws but also to use internationally recognized standards to advance social and environmental responsibility and business ethics.
In line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the provisions of this Code are derived from key international human rights standards, including the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The EICC is committed to obtaining regular stakeholder input in the continued development and implementation of the Code of Conduct. The Code consists of five sections: Sections A, B, and C outline standards on labor, health and safety, and the environment, respectively. Section D adds standards relating to business ethics, while Section E describes the elements of an acceptable system to ensure compliance with this Code.
